TRIP Transit Ridership Incentive Program
The Transit Ridership Incentive Program (TRIP) is a new statewide grant program dedicated to improving transit’s regional connectivity in urban areas with a population in excess of 100,000 and reducing barriers to transit use by supporting low income and zero fare programming. The TRIP program was created by the passing of House Bill 1414 in the 2020 General Assembly session. Currently, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is concluding the development process and accepting final public comment before seeking approval from the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB). Below you will find the materials open for public comment and relevant resources that were used throughout the development process. This webpage will be updated as the development process concludes.
The TRIP application is predicted to open in July 2021.
