National Gateway Suite of Projects
The National Gateway suite of projects involves increasing capacity and reliability as well as raising clearances on CSX tracks between Washington, D.C. and Richmond to support double-stacked intermodal train traffic on the National Gateway corridor. This project included rebuilding the Virginia Avenue Tunnel in Washington, D.C., lengthening the Branchville siding and raising the clearances on several bridges.
