What is Bike to Work Week?
May 15-19, 2017 is Virginia Bike to Work Week, as recognized by Governor Terry McAuliffe. Bike to Work Week is a time to promote the benefits of bicycling and give Virginians the opportunity to practice peddling to their place of work.

This page provides resources for planning a commute by bike. We encourage you to read the safety tips before you make your trek. If you decide to bike the first and last leg of your commute, and use transit for the middle, check out our rules for bikes on transit. Bike to work Week/Day Events
Many cities, towns and counties in Virginia hold fun events during Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day (May 19). Find breakfast in Staunton, Pit Stops all over NoVA, an Ice Cream Ride in Harrisonburg and a Bike Shorts Film Festival in Roanoke. Check out what’s going on below in your area.
Benefits of commuting by bike
Financial: By biking at least one day to work, you can cut cost on parking, gas and wear on you vehicle
Environment: Bicycling instead of using an automobile reduces pollution and helps improve air quality.
Health: Bicycling can improve your health and reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Mobility: Bicycling instead of driving an automobile helps traffic congestion and is another travel option.
