Bikes on Transit

People can also incorporate biking by using it to connect their first and last miles of a transit commute this Bike to Work Week. Check with your transit provider near you to find out if they have a bike on their buses/commuter trains and ask about their specific bike rules. Below are some across the board guidelines for using these bike racks.

  • Space on the bus racks is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If the space is full, please wait for the next bus.
  • Bike racks can accommodate two-wheeled bicycles (no tandems) with a wheelbase of up to 44 inches and a wheel size of at least 16 inches.
  • You assume full responsibility for loading and unloading your bike.  The bus driver cannot provide assistance. Wait for the bus to make a customer stop and make eye contact with the operator before walking your bike to the rack; this is for your own safety.
  • Before boarding the bus, remove all loose items from your bike.
  • Notify the bus operator that you will be removing your bike from the rack before your stop and exit from the front door.
