William "Steve" Pittard, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Pittard has served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) since September 2004. He directs the development and oversight of the agency’s $731 million annual budget and the $4.7 billion Six Year Improvement Plan. Mr. Pittard has oversight of the agency’s activities and initiatives involving financial planning, audit, general accounting, information technology, procurement, and administration. During Mr. Pittard’s tenure, the dedicated funding for rail and public transportation has increased by over 500% from a $900 million six year plan level in 2004.
Mr. Pittard has previously served in financial management positions for the Commonwealth with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency and the Department of Accounts. Additionally, he has five years of experience with the public accounting firm KPMG.
Mr. Pittard earned a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia in 1987, and he is a certified public accountant and a certified government financial manager. He is married and has two daughters currently in college in Virginia and Georgia.
