Legislative Updates

In addition to furthering its own legislative initiatives, DRPT monitors agency and industry-related legislation as well as the Governor's Budget and proposed budget amendments throughout each General Assembly Session. 

2017 Virginia General Assembly

Legislative priorities for DRPT and the Secretary of Transportation for the 2017 General Assembly include:

  • Creation of the Metrorail Safety Commission Interstate Compact: (SB 1251/HB 2136)
  • Adoption of the Governor's Proposed Budget for the 2016-2018 Biennium: (HB 1500/SB 900)

DRPT may receive requests from the General Assembly to conduct transportation-related studies and reports. Below, please find a copy of our 2016 studies and reports:
